FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Water Damage FAQs

How quickly can you respond to water damage?

Call us as soon as you find it. Water spreads through a building faster than most people expect — it wicks up drywall, travels along joists and soaks into insulation well beyond the room where it started.

The first day matters most. Materials that are dried quickly can usually be saved; the same materials left wet for several days often have to be cut out and replaced, and mold becomes a second problem on top of the first.

Will my insurance cover water damage?

Usually, when the cause is sudden and accidental — a burst pipe, a failed appliance hose, a storm-damaged roof. Damage that built up gradually from a long-standing leak or deferred maintenance is commonly excluded, and flooding from rising external water normally needs separate flood cover.

Your insurer decides the claim, not us. What we do is document the damage and its source thoroughly from the first visit, provide itemized scopes, and deal with your adjuster directly so you are not relaying technical detail back and forth.

How long does the drying process take?

It depends on how much water got in, what materials absorbed it and how the building is constructed. Hardwood, plaster and dense insulation hold water far longer than carpet or painted drywall.

We monitor moisture readings daily rather than working to a fixed number of days, and we keep drying until the readings say the structure is genuinely dry — not just dry to the touch, which is the point most people stop at.

Can you prevent mold after water damage?

Mold needs moisture, so the reliable prevention is drying the structure properly and quickly rather than treating surfaces afterwards.

Where materials have stayed wet long enough to be a risk, we remove what cannot be dried, treat affected surfaces and confirm the area is dry before anything is closed back up. If mold has already taken hold, that becomes a remediation job and we will tell you so instead of building over it.

Do you handle both residential and commercial properties?

Yes. Homes, apartments, offices, retail units, warehouses and multi-tenant buildings.

Commercial work usually needs more planning around keeping the business running — phasing by floor or unit, working outside trading hours, and coordinating with facilities managers and tenants. Tell us what has to stay open and we will build the schedule around it.
